Black and Decker battery powered chainsaw

Has any of you guys in the USA tried this one yet?
Looks like a cool little gizmo. I know, I know, It's probably nothing for the take downs but I think it would come in handy nicely in deadwooding a tree that has some major big a ss dead ones in it.

That's 6.2 pounds NON polluting pure POWER

No, let's be serious. Maybe it's something for the occasional big deadwood or the branch that is somewhat awkward to cut with a handsaw because of it's position.

MB, It's a saw that's not yet marketed in Europe so you really have to be the first to buy on this one (remember you're in debt. I was the first one of us both to buy the Treemotion

).

I don't know how much power a battery can generate. But hey, it's only $100.00, and if you think you can use it, then it's a good buy.
Just my two cents.

black and decker has never really made anything worth buying thats lasted a while, i got a feeling this is the same situation, kinda looks like the toy saw i bought my nephew for christmas but with less guts

Looks very toyish...

A saw that in "non-polluting" does not make a difference to me. It will be way underpowered. A friend of mine has one of the B&D 18V reciprocating saws... the battery lasts only about 20 minutes.

non-polluting is bs
First of all in the grand sceam of things I think chainsaws are the least of our worries, second running the saw may be non polluting but think of all the coal burned to charge the battery over and over that doesn't last. Batteries in general are a huge waste of energy and full of heavy metals.

just my 2 cents, I really don't worry much at all about polution I just don't like people marketing a lie.

As for the saw, looks like a toy and if it is only half a pound less than a real saw, I wouldn't bother, but would like to hear about it if someone does.

The 18 volt battery powered sawzalls and others have their place.I however fail to see any advantage of useing a battery powered baby sized chain saw over an arm strong powered pruning saw.I'll put my money on the armstrong version being faster and no pollution what so ever.

I tried a similar one a few years ago and the biggest problem was that you had to screw a small bottle on top of it for bar oil. I never tried to carry it in a tree, but I imagine the bottle would be knocked loose in about five minutes. If not, it would be empty by about the fifth cut. Can't tell if this one suffers the same flaw, but buyer beware.

Maybe that's all you can cut on a fully charged battery.

The oil tank does imply a very short cycle between charges (from what I can see in the pictures). At least that's what I would imagine when looking at the normal two stroke chainsaw use (empty the petrol than fill up the oil too).
