biodiesel for arboriculture

i also have been using bio diesel for about 1 yr now. i started out brewing it at a friends house using the appleseed processor, (water heater style) like the ones on www.localb100.com or even better pics on www.vegieavenger.com. that was fine for truck, chipper and log truck, but when my everyday/everything F250 needed to be fueled i could not make enough so i had it delivered. man it was/is very pricey like $3.14/gal. too rich for my blood. so i am back to brewing but on a larger scale. going to be making batches of 350 gal.. as for is it worth it for my business..hell yes.. the time it takes , i have it set up to where when i come 1 hr early i can get the process going. let sit for a week to settle. set an automated washing process with simple timer/shut off valves. then one day of drying. again with washing and drying maybe total of 1 hr hands on time. cost of materials used to make 1 gal is apprx $0.70. i use recycled restaraunt oil/ methynol and KOH. i am also working on a design where my wood chips combine with the by product will become my fuel for the processor...also hope a co-op comes out of all this which can help our area here which has no distributor close. well i can go on about this .. it has become my third passion..1 family 2 trees 3 biodiesel..and very close 4 surfing

Super cool. Im running two trucks on B 100 its nice to know that others are trying. I have (2) f250's one with a chipper box the other for wood. Its great to hear that the Bio movement is growing. I get the munchies every morning when the trucks are warming up. MMMMMMMMM Chinese Food! Thanks for all the great info.

There is a truck that runs off chips directly. In nazi germany, when they started running out of gas, they realized that they could vaporize wood, and pump it directly into the carburator and it would combust like gas. They built a big hot bed in the back of the trucks and heated the wood chips so they did not burn but they emitted vaporized gas that will run an engine.
I read about this in mother jones magazine about 4 years ago, they actually modified some old truck and drove it around the country.

I have always thought it would be awesome to run the chip truck on its chips. how beautiful would that be. It might actually be a god awful atmospheric nightmare as far as emissions go. I really dont know. I think its worth experimenting with.
