Big leaf maple

Two things Reg, that dragonfly was so cool! And I need a 3120 in my life stat! Great video, love your composure.

I like double when I start climbing from the ground and don't want to spend the time setting a retrievable canopy anchor that may or may not come down from multiple redirects. The most frustrated I ever get doing tree work is trying to land a shot with the throwball just to get it stuck or never hit the shot and need to just climb it ALT from the ground

Retrievable redirects and sometimes TIPs too, are often a huge waste of time and effort if you ask me. I love the simplicity of SRT, but that stuff just males a mockery of it. What a lot of fuss.

You can climb a tree from the ground with Ddrt still with a wrench or HH setup also. I have way more success with a big shot than throwing by hand....but even then, sometimes the force is just against you.

dang getting too set in my ways Reg - my hackles almost went up reading about Ddrt being spoken of in that light.
liked the angles you are achieving with that selfie pole - another climber on here recently - treewizard was also doing the pole thing.
went with your suggestion on the rigging ropes - enjoying the results so far.

Ben, if I hadn't switched to SRT since moving out to BC, I'd be looking for a way-out of climbing at this stage....pruning big firs in particular. Ddrt, is just too much time, effort and restrictions.
