When I was in Ann Arbor last week I noticed a construction site with three cranes working.

Is there any doubt which campus they're working on?

CAn someone explain the connection plate between the sheave and the shackles?

My guess is its a type of 'spreader' for carrying loads that don't rotate. The center connection goes on the sheave and the two sides accept the slings.

Not sure, but it looks like it could be an attachment for multi part lifting. The right side would attache to another block increasing mechanical advantage.

When I was in Ann Arbor I didn't even notice the 'M' on the crane. The person that I was with in AA, a Michigan grad, pointed it out to me.
