BFII for SRT?

Has anyone used the BFII for SRT with a chest ascender? Just trying to figure out the best possible way to do this if possible.

Also, can anyone tell me if the Mini Traxion can be used as a chest ascender? Or maybe the micro-cender?

I guess I'll know when I start trying, but figured you guys could point me in the right direction. Thanks!!!

Whew! That thing almost made me hurl lunch, much better now.

Looking forward to Tom's suggestions. You could use an independent (not attached to the harness) chest harness, New Tribe sells one and I think maybe On Rope has one. but.. I think Tom is going to show a Croll or something like that attached to webbing or slings anchored on each side where the BII bridge attaches to the harness. Then something like a Petzl Secur could be used to hold the Croll up. This would be for a Frog setup. Just a guess. Thanks again for dumping the psycho-active avatar :-)

For what its worth, I use a microcender in place of a Croll. My main work saddle is a Glide so it would be a similar set up to what you are looking at. The MC does work ok for that purpose, but there is some slop associated with the MC because there is no chest harness. I think there are some advantages to using the MC because it is pertty versitle. Some times I add a short tether... 18" or so, to the MC which makes it very easy to change over from ascent to descent mode. With the tether on the MC I can detach my hand ascender and my Pantin, then rig up my decender with backup and then take off the MC to descend. If I plan on swithcing from SRT to DDRT, I leave off the tether and just ascend with the MC attached to the bridge of my saddle.

Yup...I have a couple of short quick draw runners on the bridge shackles. In the picture you'll see a variation where the cord loop is shorter than the webbing runner. This works quite nice because it offsets the rope which I find a bit more comfortable. The rope doesn't slap me in the face as much.

Then I clip a Petzl HMS or delta screwlink to attach a chest ascender. This is a pretty comfy setup. My bungee attachment up top is simple too.

Using an MC for the chest ascender seems like a reasonable solution. A bungee or neck tether could be cobbled on some way I'm sure. Having a tool that does double duty makes sense.

I've been wondering about using the microscender for a chest ascender too, mainly because I don't have a croll or other chest ascender.

I use a tree austria saddle and I'll have to play with a few different ways to attach the MS to my saddle.

Time for some T&A!

that's tinkerin' and adjustin' by the way...

No moss, you're right. I had the seizure inducing avatar as well. Sorry bout' that, and thanks for the input!

Thanks for that Tom, very ingenious! I'll play around with the MC, but it looks like the croll is the ticket. It almost looks like I could make something like that out of my Pantin, but then I wouldn't have a foot ascender...so just like...nevermind.

Oh man, the Pantin would be scary in that position! It's the "easy off the rope" ascender after all.

Zac, keep us posted on what you end up doing with your MC. I am also looking to tweek my set up. Today we will be doing some big oaks so I should get a chance to play with my set up.

I mean I will try it low and slow at the bottom of the big oaks.
