Best way to move big wood?

55lbs each, give or take.

Getting a set made painted black shouldn't be a big issue, it would be cheaper to wait and do it when another run is made and going to the paint shop.

Ya thats what i would figure. Maybe when grapples are headed. Let me know when you know, see if i can swing it.

Carl, What is the link to your online store? Also how is that mini-stumper attachment doing in the long haul? Those purchases were not in the budget last year but this year, I am going to make them happen.

www.compactequipmentstore.com

I need to get more of my wares on there, Avant, Boxer, Gehl, (through my affiliation with Top Notch Equipment) and Terex, Gierkink (I'm the dealer)...

Regarding the stump grinding attachment, Stumper dropped all online dealers, eTerra, and Blue Diamond. It's a shame, but it's their choice. I liked the attachment for sure.

That stinks for you, I am going to buy one of those this year. How is yours holding up? Is 9 gpm from the auxiliary pump going to be enough to run it? I also want to price the scoops and a rake in that package. Any forum discounts?

I don't have one currently, I sold my last demo unit to a guy in FL and was planning to buy another in Jan-Feb when I ran a sale.

9gpm is below the recommended spec for the smallest... It'll work, but I don't have experience with that low of a flow.

When are you thinkng about buying?

Sure I give discounts on the rake and scoops and a package deal could be worked out as well. Granted they have a smaller margin compared to the BMG, but I'm in it to win it.

Nice video, the 540 is a beast, my favorite in the lineup.

Just a FWIW, I put a go pro mount under the roll bar... makes for a bit smoother video:

I plan to do that soon. I have a hard time even stopping to take video.

Carl, the BMG on this is having a real hard time. Dave had to send me a third one to fix problems from the first two. Have you had any problems with yours when you were using the HD?

The 540 reach and height is way higher than on my old asv loader. It makes it easier to put the little stuff on top once you get the big logs on the bottom.

There have only been two problems from the design that I've seen, and both have been fixed.

After roughly a year with the prototype broke the bolt that the rod end of the cylinder mounted to, the opposing bolt showed signs of fatigue cracking. The fix was increasing the size of the pins and installing some gussets on the grapple's tines.

The other issue was a design change to the hanger put too much stress on a weld, causing the hanger to eventually fail. That was fixed by replacing the flat bar brace with a tubular brace.

the replacement back plate for the previously bent one was made poorly and there was so much slop in the mounting it has allowed the whole grapple to start falling off. I guess the angles of the bottom part on the attachment plate were off. Dave is taking care of me as I am still within my warranty period on the grapple but I feel as if I am doing the company's R&D for them. Why I never get notified of these known defects is beyond me.

That plate was missmade, not a design defect but a manufacturing one. No good excuse for it. The only design defects I've seen are what I listed.

Do you have a picture of the front of your grapple hanger that bent?

That was from the first BMG HD I bought last year. This is the replacement one having issues right now. As they say, "Third time's the charm..."

Dave sent me photos of the new one and the back plate got beefed up even more. He said the Gehl 540 was still bending some peoples plates.

We had the exact same problem with the hd bmg hanger on our 540. The good news is that your in good hands with Carl and Dave and newest design has been bulletproof so far.
