Best of 2010

[ QUOTE ]

I like this thread, not for the "who's better" stuff but for the fact that we get to see what type of work everyone is doing, where they do it and some really cool pics.

[/ QUOTE ]

yes, that's why I like it too, but acting all arrogant is fun too especially with Riggs and I have other reasons.

I am also confused on this one.

Who is the person or post you are referring too?

[/ QUOTE ]

Treestylers pic is 2009, right?

Great photo all the same Wouter

[/ QUOTE ]

No, my pic was taken last november 2010 working 6 huge trees with my best climber friend steven, who has taken the picture.

Whether it is next month or 5 or 10 years from now. The first one to get on the cover gets the $.

What do you say?

[/ QUOTE ]

I SAID NEXT MONTH OR 5 or 10 years from now.

I'm saying contest starting NOW.

NOT past stuff.

2010 pictures.

December is past, 1995 is past.

I think the mist picture is the coolest one so far, btw.

[/ QUOTE ]

Crap, I thought I had it won with this month's issue, but sure count me in for $20

X, I agree, the mist picture has my vote.

Riggs, I have back issues of TCI mags from the late 80's - 90's. If I find the Oct 1995 issue with you on the cover, I'll gladly send it to you.

This picture is taken on Cortes Island BC.
I was collecting tissue samples from Fometopsis officianalis for my friend Paul Stamets.
The best part of this story is that I first laid eyes on this tree (Trude's fir) in 1973 while exploring BC with a college pal in a VW bus! That makes the conk at least 38 years old....the tree is 400+.

Cool - that conk and I are the same age...

My attached pic from 2010 is not my best but a nice representation of an average day in the Pacific Northwest. I think we have done 6 big dead fir's in town this year. Sorry there is no 'after' pic. No one seems to remember to take that shot. Smaller crew this year so never any 'during' pics either! Too busy running the lines

Cool pics! I think everyone should carry a camera in the truck and just take a few seconds out of the day and capture your work.
Can look back on your work ten years later and be like I remember that. Show your kids how we used to do it.

this one is taken a few years back during a dutch TCC.
I've won that tree and the dutch TCC that year (I think it's been 2003) But this picture is my absolute favourit.

I didn't know it was taken (my own father took the shot) and a lot off people that day didn't believe me jumping from the one to the other post without climbing backwards ;-)

it doesn't count as 2010 picture but I didn't want to skip it for this Forum.

Okay, you and I are in for $20. Pot is $40 thus far, but only a contest between you and I so far then.

Riggs, you in?

yup, that happens a lot to me too. I've taken many before shots of a trimming or a brush mowing location and totally forget to get an after shot and the first pictures are then pretty much useless.

so, your telling me that you are not photo-shopped into that picture?

Why is the figure so different then the tree?

yeah, something is definitely wrong with that picture. the climbing lines are slightly slacked ,there is no where for them to swing to, the figure is lesser quality pixels. It's all wrong.

now, tell me you were just playing a joke.

Or, did someone play a joke on you and you didn't know it?

Pardon me Wouter

I thought it was 2009 myself (sorry). Great shot in the mist . Yo X , don't ever ask if Im in for twenty , I'm in . I'm not saying my picture will win but I have nothing to lose either , I spend twenty bucks warming my truck up . I know Reg is holding his cards too. The Euro isn't doing so well , but we'll make it work . Going thru my camera as we speak.

Any chance people could just post their pics next to their text like the dutchman wouter did??! This viewing attachments is a total joke! I dont wanna have to click to open an attachment, nobody does except for the dorkiest weirdos known to treework! christ! half the time I dont even know its there, its like a fricken miniscule little piece of lettering on the page next to your IP address!!

I wanna see the pic right there when I open the thread. Its 2010 for god's sake! the idea that posting pics on the page is somehow gonna crash people's computer and bring down the Obama government is ridiculosious!! thats right! ridiculosious!!

Mark and Tom.....puleeeeaaaase sort this out! Treebuzz is stone-age compared to other tree forums!

ok, pics for the riggs....anyway.......this isn't me, I have no idea who it is, but i saw it somewhere (can't remember where) I like it, it says a lot about something, something which can't be described using words, it is just treework perfectly captured in one simple pic.
