This is from the North American Hands On Crane Workshop from last month. Two full days of nothing but crane work with a bunch of great guys and an incredible setting.

Thanks to tomthetreeman from the Buzz for the photo.

4 stemmed sugar maple (previously). 2 large tearouts where 2 of the leads had come off mid-summer in a windstorm. Home owner wanted just the lead over the house removed, as the other lead had a heavy lean out into the open lawn. They were doing all the cleanup, so didnt want the whole tree felled, were going to let the other piece break off on its own.
bangtard.gif

Stopped by a week after climbing it after talking to the homeowner, a 6" long horizontal crack had already opened up on the tension side of the remaining lead where the main crotch was. Oi.

Guyed together as I had to rig all the brush off to clear the house. Was able to bomb wood after the top and a few small pieces of wood up top. Doesnt look too monster, but was a solid 75-80' tree.

Oh yeah, and it was probably 60-70% decayed and hollow 2-3' up from the main crotch on the lead I was working on. Boo.

your killing me man ,Last november that is like 2009 . Anyway , I have a thousand pctures to go thru . I 'm gonna place my top three . X , and others , hold your cards . daniel , don't worry what I make or save , remember I have five kids , three in college . Save 25k to 50k on that note . I have some good pics , before xmas I'll post the one pic that hits it home for me . Last November I was a year younger CMON MAN ! Smacked the crap out of some big ones this week but , been there done that . 2010 Bring it on ! I might not be the winner , but I'm no sinner and I don't lie . Looked at my digital camera my son gave me last xmas and it makes me laugh . Took alot of video in the 80's and 90's , took a huge time out . 2010 , what do you have ( got) My game is hot !

ha ha ha.

always fun to read your words Riggs.

bumping this to the top so we don't loose it in all the Mark C posting.

Going to be hard not to loose it though.

Your going to post three?!!!

Your rule was only one picture.

And only 2010.

Oh, well, everyone else is adjusting the rules anyway, (except for ME btw!).

You mind as well too.

Okay, does that mean I can post 2 more?

Okay, I have an idea on how to judge the winner of best picture award, the next tree buzz guy to get on the front cover of the next TCIA magazine wins. How about that? Send them your pictures.

If you're thinking my job was a lie Riggs. What you don't know is these were trembling aspen, dead for 10 years unsafe to climb and the weight of each probably under 400lbs. The branches turned into a couple scoops each with the rake and the wood could be moved in 12' lengths on my shoulder. It was done in two short days. Not a big deal but the numbers sound impressive. Or maybe you weren't even writing about me. But if someone was wondering there it is.

This pic is that tulip tree from the vertical snap cut video. I like the natural history of it. The uplifted root plate exposing the rocks along the creek. No man has seen those rocks for 12,000 years, since some big ice melted and left them as you see...

I'm not calling you a liar , really don't know what your talking about . X , I'm gonna post one picture , that sums up my year , I'll lead into it with the other two . Never had a camera that held 1200 pics . Don't mean this to be a contest , but we all hit it everyday , all year. You have to love it to do it , I have some cool pics , I'll just put up my # 1 , picture is worth a thousand words . I don't do Facebook , my youngest son Oakley , says "Dad , your gay , treebuzz is your facebook " . I took a huge Oak down at my house with my two sons lowering and that isn't in my top ten . Kinda cool though , I'm a little different than my Dad , I didn't scream at them the whole time . I'm in two Fantasy football playoffs , ( want to start a treebuzz league?)on and off the net , I'll get my photo up before xmas . I have some cool pictures , I'm sure you people do to , hard to pick one .

Bring it on ! one picture that sums up your year and trees only , A tree job 2010 !Best picture!

Sounds like a contest to me. ha, ha.

"Bring it on" says it all.

So BRING IT, Riggs and everyone, this could be a really cool thread.

And Riggs, no disrespect, I think you are likely a great climber and efficient rigger and I like you on treebuzz.

I haven't seen a whole lot of your pictures, but the ones I did see; maybe it was the poor picture, but I didn't see anything impressive.

I would like to see some really good pictures.

Hey, you and I might never get on the cover of TCIA magazine; but how about this: the first one to do so owes the other one $200?

Or $20 if you can't afford it.

Or $1000 if you can afford it and you have the balls.

Whether it is next month or 5 or 10 years from now. The first one to get on the cover gets the $.

What do you say?

You probably got more pictures than I do and maybe a better chance. I'll start taking more pictures. I hear TCIA accepts pictures for possible use.

If that's the case, then pony up the dough boys, because that's me on the Dec. cover in the white Kask helmet, unhooking a pick at the Crane Workshop from last month.

Didn't even know that I was on the cover until BostonBull told me.

And we have a winner!

I like this thread, not for the "who's better" stuff but for the fact that we get to see what tyoe of work everyone is doing, where they do it and some really cool pics. Great idea Riggs! So yeah, bring it!

I SAID NEXT MONTH OR 5 or 10 years from now.

I'm saying contest starting NOW.

NOT past stuff.

2010 pictures.

December is past, 1995 is past.

I think the mist picture is the coolest one so far, btw.
