Best Arborist Knot Book

The free Sherrill Arborist Catalogue.
Seriously though, it seems to be always laying around (arbor porn

) and I've learned a lot of knots from it.

Otherwise, a new knot is created on a daily basis it seems, and there are just too many good online resources for me to buy another book.

I actually installed the "Knot Guide" app on my phone and tablet. Nice app and I always know where it is. I have the companion book and love it also but I find the app easier for knots.

That is a good book Tom, I have it also. I guess it depends what you are looking for and how much info you want. I like all my books but also like the simplicity of the app. Really it is just a reference for knot tying and not so much of a where to use them app. What I like the most is that I always have it in my pocket, being an app.

I have Jepson's new book. It's good.
However, it does not have as many knots as I had hoped.

I WOULD buy it again !

Unfortunately, I haven't found a single definitive Arborist Knot Reference.

I think at this point, you just have to do your research:
Multple books, internet, apps, catalogs, etc.

Tom. I have been searching for the looped prusic knot you were talking about on the base anchor tie in thread. It was a sliding dbl fisherman a I think. I can't find my tree climbers companion. It's usually in my truck. Anyway do you know of another name it may be known as. It's just not coming up with any o.y searches or variations on the net.

Steve, the double fisherman's KNOT is probably the sliding version you're talking about. It is a way to create a secure loop out of a length of line. That loop can then be used to create a number of prusik knots around another rope.
