Bearing pulley

I believe he means compared to a bushing type pulley, which uses a bronze sleeve between the sheave and axle as a bearing surface.
Or else he means that the roperunner lasts longer with the tending pulley. I don't have one, but I'm guessing that without the tending pulley, the rope probably runs over a fixed bollard/pin... probably stainless steel... and that the pulley reduces wear at that point. That sounds very likely, to me.

Ordered one up Friday, looking forward to it. I got my runner last summer and my first pulley lasted 6 months. Then dirty wet winter hit and I've burned up 3 replacements, so I think this will be awesome. In gunmetal no less!

The only problem I've ever seen with any of mine is when the sheave shifts to one side. Must be due to the pressed fit of the sheave to the bushing may not be tight enough. I do clean my gear so maybe that's why it hasn't locked up on me.

Going up, down, both? Does it translate to a different feel in the Bird?
sometimes with the bushing, it doesn't start rolling right away, and so when you first begin descent there is a little jumpy jumpy till you really get moving. the bearing just makes for a smooth transition. i was very surprised how smoother it made everything feel.

No, those were all bushings. If they were all bearings it would be amazing. My biggest beef is that with three bushings, one would eventually go flat and ruin the whole experience. Just bollards it's consistent and cheaper. I would like to revisit the all ball bearing, but expensive and more bulk. But oh it would be an amazing ride.

For those of you using TRT with the Runner, as Oceans pointed out to me a flatter pulley is crucial to stop the rope twisting on descent and it seems that this new one may just about do it. Anyway, I bought one and cant wait to give it a run ! I'll report back. Over and out !

Hey Kevin I don't have a rope runner but I was looking at this pulley and thinking it'd be awesome if it had the specs, breaking, working load etc, it's a cool form factor for a simple lightweight pulley, be awesome on a maillon in a friction saver for example. Good luck with it, looks killer

I have a bunch of various runner pulleys kicking around and yes they do make good all around pulleys

My dirty thirty pulley is still going strong, never cleaned either, but now it's receeding into the far off depths. The new pulley has a much better sheave profile for TRT, on 20M descents there is a tiny amount of rope hockling, I'm chuffed, love it !
