Basic cat rescue A-Z

Andrew, I've wondered how you do so many cat rescues. Well, I did another one this morning for a neighbor a mile away; saw a post on Nextdoor asking for help. Makes 2 rescues in 2 weeks for me. Albert was hungry after 2 nights in the tree and he recognizes cat treats when you crinkle the bag. Went right into the carrier once I got it in front of him. I'm okay with being the cat rescue guy for my area.

There are a few ways to get your name out as a cat rescuer locally.

Contact your 311 system...community non-emergency call center. Sometimes they will add names to a reference list.

Contact animal control in all of your communities.

I've talked with community cat rescue volunteers too. They are usually focused on the feral cat population but, like us tree nerds, they are usually interested in all things Cat.

WHen you get a rescue call find out how they got your name. Ask if there were other sources they called too.

There are Facebook cat rescue pages too. If I ever did a FB thing I'd have a separate account just for rescue. Compartmentalize!
