Bashlin Saddle XS bridge issues

well i got it done! i simply replaced the webbing and alumniung sliding D with two lengths of 9000lb tensile 12mm static line, tied to each triangular attachment point with a double fishermans knot. for the tie in point i used a SMC mini rigging plate, rated for 36KN MBS. I threaded the lower bridge rope through the bottom of the rig plate, and the upper bridge rope thru one of the outer rig plate holes. This leaves two holes in the plate for clipping two biners into, and positons them above the bridge.

i will post pics of the entire setup if i can find a camera to borrow..

pretty damn happy with it, i still get the side to side sliding rotation, plus the biners are seperated.

Hey BASHLIN, expect some pics soon, you might want to try this for the next generation of the Bashlin Saddle XS :)

How's that rigging plate working out for you so far? Do you think that the plate's thin profile may damage the rope bridge after a while. I've been thinking of making a similar modification to a master III saddle using two petzl paw rig plates.

^ pretty damn good!! the plate is a 1/2" thick, with very smooth rounded edges. Bridge wear is a non issue. have spnet about 16 hours in the saddle since i modded it. LOVE iT! Imay untie the bridge and slipp a sleeve of tubular webbing over each rope bridge, to finish it off nicely.

Do you happen to know how thick the small petzl paw rigging plate is? I just got a master III saddle, and it feels a little odd after a glide. SO I was thinking of adding a double bridge between the two bottom loops, and a petzl paw looks like it will work. I just want to make sure I get something thick enough.

Petzl PAW is PRETTY DANG BIG! about 5" x 5".

Here is a pic (with thanks to PETER JENKINS & MOSS at Tree Climbers International)of a Petzl Paw sewn into a harness bridge:

the rigging plate i used in my Bashlin saddle, is HALF the width and length of the paw.

Ohh... I'm not using that petzl paw. Petzl makes other rigging plates which sherrill sells. I'm going to hook up two of the small plates. They're red, and they're in the new sherrill catalogue, which is probably the most distracting item for me right now. I always catch myself looking at it while I'm tring to do homework. BUT... I'll post some pictures when I get everything and hook it up. I installed the bridges and climbed with just a biner, and I loved it. My sliding dee held me by the legs too much, but with the two bridges, I was able to adjust it so the legs and back are more balanced. I think the rig plates will help keep everything orderly, and add a little more range to the sides though.
