Bandit 15XP Review (brand new)

He sold me this one and my 200xp in 1999.
I haven’t spoken to him about the issues with this machine only because I think that it’s the service departments responsibility

Glad to hear good news it
I know but since I am talking directly with the owner I feel there is no need.

The good news is that I just received an email confirming that I will be receiving a new control panel under factory warranty.
Finally some good news
always better than bad news!!!! Hope it gets your machine all squared up

Update

189 hours. Everything has been good since the computer panel was replaced
Then today happened...

Winch has no pulling power.

No matter what I do it doesn’t fix it. It has only enough power to pull in the winch line itself.

I’m pretty sure that the valve is stuck (engage/disengage valve).

Any advice is much appreciated!!

JC

Check all the other valves that they are not stuck on or cracked open or closed

TreeBuzz is an invaluable source of good people and good information in my opinion. But rather than wait too long for the right person to see my questions on this one I would call the dealer and go over the possible (or one) thing to check with their best mechanic.

I talked with the owner of my dealership which happens to be 2 to 2.5 hours away. He said I could talk with the mechanic and get diagnosis over the phone where possible without charge. I said, no, no, I wasn't asking for that I just wanted permission to do it over the phone and I would pay his dealership hourly mechanic rate as well as striking a bargain with the mechanic to pay him an equal amount.

I suspect I will get near 24 hour help if I ever need it. Going on 2.5 years now and fortunately I haven't needed help. But if I do, getting back up and running quickly will be so worth it.

1/10/20 Update

All is good with my machine. Almost 330 hours and I’m getting ready to change out the distributor cap and rotor.

I need the Napa part numbers for:
1). Distributor cap and rotor
2). Fuel filter
3). Thermostat

(this machine has the GM 4.3 gas engine)
Any help is much appreciated

If you have the engine manual for the chipper, and it lists GM part numbers, Napa can cross-reference those to give you the parts you need. Otherwise, you may be able to call a GM dealer if you have the model and serial number of the engine, and get the part numbers from them.

IDK about anything else, but my much older than your new chipper- GMC 5.0 needed OEM caps. Problems of carbon tracking inside the cap, and poor running performance with the 'regular'/ aftermarket one from O'Reillys.

No Idea if there might be a similar problem.

Only knew about it because the Parts Counter clerk knew it was an ongoing problem on the Chevy 305s that they made for a long time, I'm told.

sounds like you have seen the same issues we have had. I have spare parts at my shop with Napa numbers (I think I’m headed out there today). I think PSI told me to ask for a 2005 blazer parts for the Cap and rotor but I try to get the numbers today. Also the fuel filter is a ford filter ‍:muyenojado:.
im not sure if I have the part number for the thermostat but I’ll look. There are two options and it’s the hotter one that is supposed to go in. I’ll try to get back to you later today!

this issue is a distributor venting problem where moisture gets in and causes corrosion on the contact points. Dielectric grease helps slightly but not enough to make it worth while. Aftermarket parts last just as long. We are changing it every 300-400 hrs no exceptions. The original failed at 365.
