Balanced rigging for 1/2\" Polydyne?

Recently bought 200' of 1/2" Polydyne to use with a BMS Belay Spool for Tom's Overhead Lowering Device System (OLDS). Now, for 'simple' negative rigging, what's recommended for "<u>balance</u>" with 1/2" Polydyne? I already have:

5/8 CMI SS Block
1/2" Tenex Loopie
Large POW IV
5/8" Tenex Woopie

What's else? ... sizes OK?

You might try to find a good "balancer" rope (spiderleg). I don't know what would be compatible with a 1/2", as the balancer is usually a little smaller.

I've still been wanting the Belay Spool. How's that working? Maybe if you have more info, would you put it in the OLDS thread, please?

Not sure what you mean by simple negative rigging and balance.
You mean to 'balance the system' with a Porty and arborist block? If that's the case, then you won't need anything else for simple rigging. Half inch Polydyne is an awesome lowering line. Great investment!

Spiderleg ... Good idea! ... forgot about that. I've got a bunch of 3/8" Tenex ... I'll splice one (or two). Thanks, Sean!

And, I've got a job where I plan on lifting a limb off another tree with a come-a-long, holding, then lowering with the OLDS ... I'll post some pix, if I can ... snowing now ... might be awhile.

Yup, that's what I'm asking. Yeah, LUUUV that Polydyne ... good stuff! Thanks, Norm! Always good input!!!

Re: Balanced rigging for 1/2\" Polydyne?

Good point, Nick. I was wondering about that. I've used polydyne several times for pull lines when falling. The "extra stretch" seems to keep tension on the stem a little longer during the fall which seems to give better control. So, I thought I'd give polydyne/lifting a try to get a better feel for it's limitations. Polydyne runs so nicely through the Belay Spool. And, when using the BS topside the lift line length will be quite short, so stretch may not be much of an issue. We'll see ...
