Avatar (the movie)

yea i agree, not a big fan of CGI looks fake to me.

The problem with CGI is that its sometimes looks so obvious, things dont move naturally as they would in the real world and as soon as that happens the movie has lost you, you end up just sitting there unimpressed and feeling cheated, even the stop motion skeletons of Ray Harryhausen in the Jason and the Argonauts movie was better than this CGI garbage, at least they had soul and they were genuinly cool - whereas the avatar smurf imposters are uncool

Finally saw this movie today and all I can say is WOW. Best movie I have ever seen, hands down. The trees were awesome, along with the whole story line!! When it comes out I'll be buying a Blu-Ray player just to have this one in Blu-Ray Hi-Def.

Actually you should get a ps3 and have best of both worlds

Good escapist fantasy that takes past historic events to form the story line, namely, the dislocation of natives who have lived in a balanced semi-spiritual harmony with their environment for the sake of resource exploitation. That's simply fact not an agenda. People will use it to further their own agendas.

Good movie, not great.

I have always loved the skeleton army of J & A. Good for it's time.

Put me in the "crummy movie that looks really cool" camp (Imax 3-d). If it had been an hour shorter, it might have been compelling and exciting, but as it is I just got bored. But it looked good.

I'm baffled by the nomination for Best Picture, though. Wait, I take that back. The nomination confirms my belief that I am almost sure to dislike oscar winning movies.
