Autofeed randomly starting/stopping the feed wheels

Hey guys,

Just bought a used Bandit 2004 200+ chipper and it seems to be an excellent machine so far. Very well maintained. Although of course, two days after purchasing it the autofeed starts messing up. With or without material being fed in the feed wheels will stop, reverse, then feed again all completely randomly. I realized this was the autofeed malfunctioning because the problem goes away if I turn the autofeed off.

The good news is that the seller is willing to pay to get the problem fixed, but the nearest Bandit dealer is 3 hours away. I feel like this may be a bad wire or flywheel sensor. Does anybody have experience with these symptoms? I would much rather order a part than have my machine held up for a week or two if it is a simple fix. Thanks guys.

Probably clean up all the connections first. Reprogram it to the correct rmp's and and make sure the engine is maintaining those rpm's.
If it continues to acted up buy a new auto feed module. You may be able to send yours to the OEM for testing and rebuilding..
I think one of the brands, (AutoFeed+) has a few videos on Youtube about testing the things. Also check Ebay for the part.
These breakdown all the time. You could just turn it off and go old school.

Pull your flywheel sensor and inspect for accumulated metal/ possibly adjust clearance...I heard they can get weak...when it messes up does it show the rpms steady?
