Attention All Dog Lovers

I still can't quite believe what I've discovered today.

I have an elderly 10 year old mutt, a Corgi Collie mix who's been healthy happy and rambunctious his whole life. I feed him too much table food, chicken, beef, pork etc. But have always ensured he gets at least a cup of dry dog food a day.

A few days ago I ran out of dry dog food. But rather than getting his regular brand being pressed for time, I went to the nearby Save A Lot discount store and got him a bag of their Special Blend made in America dry dog food.

When I put a cup of it in front of my dog, he took one sniff, looked at me and walked away. I thought to myself, you spoiled mutt, be that way, you'll get hungry soon enough.

But the next day, same deal. So I boiled a chicken to make chicken salad with that day, and he perked right up. I boiled the rich broth down and poured it over his new dry dog food sure he'd eat it now. And he did. A few hours later he was puking his little guts out!

Suspicious now I checked the FDA recalled dog food list and couldn't believe my eyes! Not only was the stinkin Save A Lot brand on it, but about 100 other brands as well! WTF is going on with these stupid dog food MFRS in America for goodness sakes!

Check it out.

There is a ton of crap in dog food, just like human food the big companies use tons of fillers. Dogs don't respond well to rapid changes in their diet so it's no surprise that he didn't want to eat it. Changing food without mixing and weening from one type to the next will cause vomiting and diarrhea so it's not necessarily from the tainted food. Regardless, if you fed him the recalled food I would get him to the vet ASAP. Salmonella would be bad for a dog. I hope you little guy is ok. Keep us posted.

Actually some 15 people have been recently hospitalized on the east coast due to handling their pets food or crap without thoroughly washing their hands afterwards.

Diagnosis? Salmonella poisoning. Source? Diamond pet food plant in S. Carolina.

I'm giving my bag of Save A Lot crap to the FDA for testing.

Bronson, my dog is feeling much better. He will be eating people food until this pet food mess gets properly sorted out.

I'm furious with the MSM and FDA for sitting on their hands and letting this BS happen.

Salmonella is far more deadly to people, particularly old people, than it is to dogs.

My friend had a great idea. Because pet food is not as regulated as human food it could be prepared by a bunch of people in their kitchens like a co-op and marketed as locally made gourmet pet food. Home based business for humans and better food for pets with real ingredients.

Good idea. This is what I feed my dog, it's not on the recall list.

Babies can die from it extremely quickly.

Dehydration.

So, we are careful when handling turtles and other reptiles before handling the baby.

I heard that is was regulated for human consumption. Because in times of depression, people resort to eating canned dog food and cat food and therefor they make it safe for humans to eat.
