should i be using a spare caribiner into the hole of my handled ascender or is it acceptable to girth the webbing into the hole?

I girth the webbing into the handle.

Webbing has been girth hitched to ascenders for decades. It's SOP and eliminates one piece in the gear chain. Carefully roll the loop so that the layers of webbing aren't a mess.

thank you tom. i was just worried about the bend radius and strength loss. but my handled ascender is not my primary attatchment. i use a custom webbing chest harness and a friction hitch on SRT.

On my Petzl Ascencion ascender and Croll I created a webbing or tech cord friendly radius just below the attachment hole with PC-7 epoxy.
