Arrgh...hacks in the neighborhood.

At an Arbormaster training course in BC a few years back, a student (who was a seasoned pro) was about 60 feet up in a douglas fir. he lowered damn near half the tree, but at least a 45 foot top. Spindly tree

i beg your parden...but tall skinny Robusta Palms are alot different from any hardwood....
I have not had arbormaster training...but I Have done alot of palm removals.

The guys cutting down the pines next to my parents' house today would definately fall into the hack category.

Climber was using an 024, with no regard for tying in twice.

Climber was using the tag line for a climbing line... free climbed up, set his belly line, tied 2 half hitches around his D ring and then a taughtline, came down, untied, tied a running bowline and pulled the tree over.

4 guys running around on the job, NO PPE whatsoever. Not even ear plugs.

Noticed a couple of guys kicking rakings and wood right up to the feed wheels on the 254XP.

While using the winch to pull out 500+ lb pieces they had the chipper disconnected from the truck, without any stabilizer jacks or chocks.

When it came time to clean up, no buckets... and only 1 rake. They took out 5 loads of chips from the job... but had to stop each time they filled up the truck, because the boss (the only driver) wasn't around to drive the truck to the dump spot. Interesting thing here... in my town the cops LOVE truck drivers... so in this town you need to cover your load. This guy on his 5 trips (open body dump truck, not a chip box) never covered his load even once.

I don't think I'll be seeing this guy around for too long... he seems dumber than one of the guys I currently sub for (who is going out of business)... plus with all the safety violations I saw and the fact that this guy isn't paying comp... one day WHEN something happens he'll lose it all.

I can spend lots of time on You Tube watching hacks!!!

Hey Roger Barnett, Ive never understood why people would wear spikes to prune densely branched trees like "doug fir" I mean what's their excuse, you can climb them like a ladder or at least throw rope between the gaps! Mark Chisholm that video you posted of those guys "pushing the balance point" could be described as "freaking scary!!!" Hey arbor101 you're right about the 60- 90 foot washingtonia robusta rmv's! Once you cut the head off those get very unstable (think of a bundle of straws wrapped with tape at each end, when you cut the head, it's like unwrapping the "tape" from one end of the vascular bundles in palms!) Why was that guy renting a crane to do a simple pinus halepensis rmvl in the front yard? Why have someone riding the pick for no reason? People like this should have their bus. shut down before they hurt someone. It's dangerous enough if you follow all the standards!

Apparently there was a pic in the street being chipped...he says they were waiting for room in the street before moving the next one to the chipper...They also did a couple more in the back yard after that. I quit working for this guy because I knew that a catostropic accident was inevitable

They are very productive...but not very bright :)

I could go into story after story after story about my experiences with Tidy Tree but im trying very hard to LET GO of the past and focus on the now.

Doing thigs wrong for years..taking chances...making things up because thare is noone to show you the right way...takes a toll on a person...ruins marriages...moral...body

I hated this industry before i quit working for hacks.
Every day I thank God I made it to where I am now. Wish I could start all over and avoid the idiots.

Love
Jesse
