Its no different than what they've been doing for years, I guess now they are just advertising it? Home depot has rented tow behind lifts, chainsaws, chippers, and stump grinders for many years.

That’s one of the problems with living here - there are many rental companies with great pricing, allows us pros flexibility and increased capacity, but also allows the clueless and unqualified to do what they should not, and lowball the rest of us.

Unfortunately it’s not always just the armchair arborists who think they know how to do tree work but also customers who don’t want to pay for quality professional work.

I remember years ago I looked at a job, huge oak tree with a main limb that broke off into multiple other limbs growing horizontal over a house, and I explained to the person how it would involve a lot of technical rigging that’s why the price was what I said it would be, and they responded saying to just pull it away from the roof with a pickup truck.

Needless to say they weren’t interested in what I had to say and I’m not interested in working for people like that.

I have no problem whatsoever losing a job or walking away from the job if the customers are just looking for the cheapest price, because I’m not in the business of doing cheap work, I’m in the business of providing a high quality professional service.
