Arborwear stretch tech pants. First impression

Just got my order of arborwear stretch tech pants in the mail.

First impression. They are a little steeply priced. Second impression. They seem to be worth it.

They are very much similar to pfanner stretch air pants but with the original price tag (remember when they only used to be 185$. Ah the good ol' days when milk was only 3.50 a gallon and a loaf of bread cost 4$ and holly was still on Treebuzz).

Here's a bit of a check list.

Stretchy scholar type material. Check
Reinforced knees. Check
Makes my hind quarters more irresistible. Check
Velcro adjustable ankles that I never plan on using. Check

I'm interested to see how they fair in warm weather and without being washed. I plan on wearing the same pair for two weeks without washing them, partly to see how well they do, partly because I'm incapable of doing my own laundry because my new born son lees and poops through 5 outfits a day. It would seem he's full of as much crap as his father. ZING!
(in my defense I'm still waiting for the paternity test results so that isn't necessarily a knock on myself)

Stay tuned.

I can absolutely see that happening.

That said. I'd much rather it be warmer then cooler due to holes in the knees.

A big thanks to mayer power products for the hook up on the pants. He gave them to me absolutely free of charge. His only request was a signed bottle of my favorite shampoo.

We both walked away as winners on this deal.

The pants weren't free. I sent the bottle anyway along with photos.

I love them! As for the price I picked mine up for $135. No I am not an A list celebrity in the tree world. I just was happy to find them for that price at the ISA trade show in Chicago.

I really think they are going to last a long time. They fit great and the freedom of movement is great. I just like how when i get out of my treemotion there aren't sweat marks all over from where my saddle was in contact with my legs.

Just got mine yesterday from Mayer Power Products too. Thanks Bull for first class service as usual.

I have to say, that I'm very impressed with these pants and have no doubt that they'll last a long time.

I'm not worried about the heat because I'm used to climbing all the time in SIPS chainsaw pants. I can see where I will get used to the new ArborWear pants fast.

How is the fit compared with the tech pants? Are they tapered like the regular Arborwear pants?

Marc...if they make you hind end irresistible, I had better skip...;) I'd be like the pied piper up here.:)

i was thinking on some, but with my ASSets...i had better leave the ladies alone....

Jp. The taper is different because it has a Velcro adjustable cuff.

I wore the pants today. Comfy pants but warm. Not chainsaw pants warm but warmer than my REI pants.

Cary. All I can say is sex sells and it looks like I found my new bidding pants. Now if I could just find some suspenders and do my bids topless.

I have been wearing mine a lot. I like them better than Tech pants, which I cant stand to wear in summer. I love the big opening on the pant cuff, much more boot friendly. They have a GREAT cell pocket, and a hidden zipper pocket under the cargo pocket.

They are warm, I relate this directly to the reinforced knee area, and its weird almost rubberized material. Not crazy hot though. Wore em last week in 90* heat with no problems, they breathe really well.

Get em fast when they're gone, they're gone till spring time.

Family Tree and Chris Girard:

It is my pleasure!

Cary.

I can't say they are better or worse.

If I had to choose a pair for actually working I'd pick the arborwear pants in a second. If I'm just messing around and Rec climbing I'd probably put on my rei pants. Time will be the true test

I like the design and the fit. Very comfy, and true to size. I think they will be durable. I have only worn them twice, but they are surely a little warmer than the tech pants. All things considered I like them better. I will not throw out my techs though. Nice pants AW!

(and Marc, I think your butt looks bigger in them FWIW)

I enjoy everything about the new pants accept for the reinforced knee does get hot but I knew that would happen at the time of purchase. I personally think that they run a little long vs the tech pants.

yes I agree they do run a little long. Because when I have them on without my boots the pants are under my heels. However once my boots are on they are perfect

got mine on as we speak. 150 bones is a bitter pill but what the hell man. i bought 3.

a tad hot under the chaps but it is what it is. i think they kinda fly though. going to keep one pair clean for the golf course. sweet.

I've worn mine now twice and all i can say is wow are they toooo hot!
I'm glad they made them extra thick so they'll last forever but with them being so hot i don't anticipate actually wearing them enough for theat to be an issue.

Yes they fit well and are durable but these things are like wearing chaps....my legs are sweating just riding around doin bids! lol

Fall and winter pants they'll be!

Yeah I can't disagree with the heat inside these pants. During a few removals this morning in full sun my legs were soaked and I am blaming it all on the reinforced knees as well as the pants being black/dark grey. I wish Arborwear would make the tech pants with the new stretch material.

I am going to check these pants out for the summer heat .. http://www.columbia.com/Silver-Ridge%E2%84%A2-Stretch-Pant/TM8458,default,pd.html#
