The Lyon Arboretum (University of Hawaii at Manoa, Honolulu) is seeking a full-time arborist. The successful candidate will be responsible for all tree work, including tree cutting and pruning and for determining tree maintenance schedules. The arborist will also participate in building the arboretum’s woody plant collections, teach occasional classes and workshops, and be active in the professional arboriculture community. A baccalaureate degree in horticulture or related field is required, along with 2 years of progressively responsible professional experience. Must have a demonstrated technical knowledge, experience, and training in tree climbing utilizing climbing saddles, safety ropes, and other appropriate tools and technologies.
