CITY OF SPRINGFIELD is seeking applicants for ARBORIST
The Office of Public Works, Garage Division is seeking an individual to manage City-owned tree population and urban forest resources and plan, direct and supervise arboricultural and landscape activities on City property and rights-of-way. Supervises the tree maintenance program; receives citizen inquiries and investigates citizen requests for tree service on City-owned trees; answers questions pertaining to the City’s urban forestry programs, projects and activities; operates computerized service request system and tree inventory database, making updates and changes as required; plans, directs, coordinates and supervises activities of the forestry personnel and contractors to carry out various arboricultural programs, projects and activities; identifies trees and plant materials requiring corrective measures; diagnoses disease, insect and cultural problems; and makes recommendations or initiates appropriate action to control or eliminate problems. Position requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college with courses in urban forestry, or five years of progressively responsible experience in the Arboriculture field, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
MINIMUM STARTING SALARY: $3,387.29 MONTHLY
Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience
