Arbor-X’s Versatile K-boom Pictures.

both on truck somehow in one load.

the green strap by the way is a ratchet strap used to hold the wooden wedge in place to keep them from rolling/rocking.

small tulip tree i noticed a trunk defect in, so it got removed.

tree was odd shaped/weighted since the top broke out in the past, full of nasty water in the trunk hollow too.

if I don't have a bed at all on the truck while using the k-boom, i like to put the hooklift in the back to put more weight on that light rear end.

I didn't think the pick was likely to stay vertical with how long the top limbs were, so we put on a butt line to keep it from transitioning to horizontal too fast and scary.

this was due to abnormal top thin growth from previously broken top.

it was good I called for the butt line, it went horizontal.

log sliding into container.

I have some video of k-boom arm actaully going in the container, sliding in a log. Can't do that with a stick crane.

the defective trunk section. I saw a crack in trunk from a distance when walking the property; at a bend in the main trunk. About half way up the tree.

they are overkill.

1 inch amsteel.

several on here said one inch has strength of 109,000lbs.

We have four of these big ones.

Two are like 21 feet, two are like 25 feet long.

hey thanks guys. You pulled up an old thread. But maybe it's time a added to it again.

I'm too busy right now, but maybe I should put together an action packed video of this k-boom truck?

I've put the video together in my mind for over a year now.

I've got the music picked out and everything.

We use this truck many times a week and it's hard thinking about doing tree work without it.

sure thing classic. It has no problem with the weight, it's a 40,000lb hooklift. full load of logs, whatever, no problem.

it's vid will have everything I think.

crane picks, climber tie in for trimming, bucket work, hooklift lifts of loads of logs and chips, grapple loading logs and feeding chipper, everything....

with classic's new k-boom post, it's stirred up the k-boom topic again, so I figured I'd put up a few pictures....

some from 2010:

heavy snow collapsed barn. Lots of farm machinery under roof sections.

job, remove sections without causing more damage.

job was fun. Sure needed to be tied into k-boom and be a climber. needed to secure roof section, then cut timbers with chainsaw, or cut steel with torch. then rappel, then pick up roof section.

worked good to poke holes in tin, then run sling around many timbers.

this was the second huge snow storm in 2010.

we were far away doing a big snow removal job with the loaders, didn't want to make two runs to return ASV loaders back home.

so, found a way they just barely fit.

my bucket was over the stored k-boom and rear ASV bucket hung over the back a little. Machines backs touching each other, I think i put a thick rag in between them.

in this picture, my ASV is running here with lights on and bucket lifted up to light up picture before taking them off.
