anyone try to climb with any of these gloves?

3 day on the second pair and the inside of the thumb is wearing through. Again it's not peeling but is already on it's way out. They are definitely comfortable just not lasting long enough for my taste. Maybe it's me and the way I'm working the ropes.

I picked up some of those ansell gloves xman had recommended. I got about 10 days climbing on the gloves and the grip is still completely intact. Lost a bit of its gripping power, but still impressive thus far.

JDD sent some of those gloves and liked them a lot. Good stuff lasted forever.

Home Depot has some green gloves I like. I have about 3 weeks on a pair and they just now got a hole in the fingertips. As soon as my boots hit the ground I ditch them, I hate gloves and I thought my hands were pretty calloused, but those of you that don’t use gloves are another species

gotten out of the habit of using gloves unless spikes and thorns are involved, or seriously rough bark. Had a few close calls and one injury due to rope catching gloves.... same as with chipper, dont use gloves unless need to. I try to keep away from gloves with ridges on the back as a whipping rope can grab the ridge too easily....

However the best deer skin gloves I have found is the golden eagle mechanics gloves (Iron clads are good but too expensive):

or the type first posted in this thread (grippy molded on cotton/lycra) even if they do wear quickly.

I hardly ever climb with gloves. One in a while I will wear them maybe because the tree is sappy or something else but they always end up coming off. Too hard trying to advance my climbing rope with gloves on, they slip on the rope. Or do stuff with my hands, etc.

I guess if you find the right pair of gloves it can work.

I use atlas grippy gloves for competition (just footlock and belayed speed climb) because the extra traction helps keep you from being gassed so quickly.
I throw on a pair of the insulated grippy gloves when it is freezing out. So 10 days a year?
If they didn't tear up so quickly, I'd use them.

In aus when working around the lines it is a requirement for al workers to wear gloves all the time regardless of the type of work. Have gotten the crew used to wearing them when chipping, cutting out the bucket etc. the only problem I climbing, it’s so damn hard to grip the rope properly wearing gloves
