Anyone climbing Cal Oaks?

I was just wondering how many people climbed a few of the nice oak trees in California? I had the pleasure of climbing an awesome Blue oak this afternoon.
I would guess the age betwwen two and a half and four hundred yrs. It ROCKED!

where in Cali did you climb that blue oak (Quercus douglasii)

I just finish a project on an old engelmann oak tree over the wk-end..

Later in SO-Cal

Is any one climbing any nice oaks in the northern states? I was wondering what kind of oaks grow in the more cold areas of the states and how far up into the snow country do they go?

I know why you are asking the question living in SoCal, I used to work at the Wild Animal Park in Escondido. But I have also climbed up and down the west coast. There are many, lovely, deciduous oaks further north. Just check your Western Garden.

Currently I hail from the south SF bay area.

Cheers,
Greg

Greg-I come from northern California and have see the oaks up there. Awesome madrones too. The Interior Live oaks are sweet around southern Humbolt county.

I have a few 100' Valley Oaks (Q. lobata) that I climb in the LA area. They might be my favorite climbing tree.

Treemonster, do you remember a guy named Javier that is in charge of the trees at the wild animal park? I'd like to climb a tree with him some day!

love
