Any Value?

Hi All!

Here is a question for you…

I am thinking of really harshly and religiously document ting ALL of the work I do . From beginning till end.. I mean I will keep a journal and take photographs of every job I do from now on including what knots/hitches I learn what gear I buy what cutting technique I use what type of trees I cut and so on I mean like a written record of everything I do Because I am new I think there might be some value in doing such a thing? wouldn’t there be??

Well just want to know what you guys think I mean it would be an on going thing from the vary first tree till the end of my climbing days hopefully a long time from now..

So what do you all think?? Would anything I learn or document be of any value to new climbers or old ones alike?

Well, taking notes is not a bad idea. Scrap booking, journaling and diaries are all good methods of chronicaling your progress.

As for you ending question, if this website has been of any
value to you, then your notes may help someone else.

Of course you could save up all that data and publish a book in the future.

In the short run there might not be any value but years from now you'll be lovin' the old pics. I think that I can speak for most of the gang and say that I wish that I had pictures of the gear and techniques that I used at the beginning of my career in the trees. That was over 30 years ago and there have been more than a few updates.

With electronic tools it is very easy to document. You have to decide what you're going to track and how you're going to file the info.

Have fun!

I do the digi photos. What I find hard is getting a crew member to take pics of action. I document trees, etc. I have a personal blog of my tree work here in Germany just as a little diary for myself and to share with family. It is fun just to look back at the year so far.

That's true for me too. I usually just get shots of the scene when I refuel or have lunch... My brother gets a few action shots, but he's not with me all that much.

Definatel take pic and document. I have pics from when Istarted with another company thru today. its good to show people where you came from. I have pics of rolling logs up planks w/ peevees onto a trailer. Good to remember while watching a loader pick them up now
