Any downside to retiring my Certified Arborist/Certified Tree worker

I haven’t completed a crossword since eighth grade...Suduko...not even started one. My mind stays crisp doing woodworking, metal fabricating, work on my camper and some travel

I haven’t had any work related insurance since ‘04.

$120 re Cert fee for three years isn’t going to break the bank.

still pondering

Tom you contribute a huge amount to the industry. The industry certification programs would gain far more by aligning with that contribution and supporting it than by having you drop off the roles.

You, and others in the future, should be given a new category /classification on your certs. Retired but active contributor or something. Think of all the honorary university degrees given to notable people so the university can wrap itself in that persons fame etc.

What a huge continuation it would be to get this going and you be the first or among the first. (Acknowledgement tends to inspire others etc. too.)

Isn't that the point of the retirement designation? The alternative is he could just throw away the renewal paperwork when it comes and he drops off.

I've had lots of good input...thanks so much.

Now things are simmering

In order to use the ISA program a person has to have been a CA for 24 years. I'm trying to figure out when I got mine.

Yes, other professions have (ret) nomenclature in respect for time that's put in.

Certified Arborist Emeritus. I like the ring of that.

I think this is an uncomfortable conversation for a lot of people here. Fear is that if you are able to let go of ISA certs then maybe slowing down your presence on Tree Buzz is next? I sure hope not,I don’t think anyone here is ready for that! Maybe subconsciously, but true,it’s going to be hard to get unbiased opinions here

Any way to put your certification on "hold" or "suspend"? I did that with my USCG master's ticket...that way I can renew it later on down the road without going through the rigmarole of all the testing, etc., that I went through when I got licensed the first time...
