Dose anyone here have any specific advise on splicing Tachyon. I have a 150 footer in the mail to me. How milky is it? Can I splice both ends right away? or should I climb with it for a while to get it to milk out 1st?

Thanks

Evo,

Tachyon isnt that bad to splice, just takes some time to follow the instructions at first. I dont know if you have already read into it or not but its a triple braid, so theres a few more steps in it. But i dont think its too tricky. My first ones came out really nice. New rope is much easier to splice. New England has specific instructions for it on their site. They are extremely hard to print out or blow up though so be prepared to squint at them the whole time. (Maybe im missing a better copy some where

I think with any rope your going to put two eyes on, you should splice one, climb on it a little (i think i heard from a guy i work with that you should do a half dozen or maybe less, big climbs to completely milk the whole rope) before splicing the other end. I will be in the same boat as you shortly, going to order some soon!

Good luck! let us know how it comes out!

Anyone add or disagree...

Won't it milk a bunch when after a few long climbs? Say you use one eye first and then when you go to use the second eye, wont there be a bunch of slack behind that eye? Thats the problem I have with my lava, but I don't know if thats just because they're different reacting ropes.

Im curious because Im going to be buying a 200' hank of tachyon soon.
