We did yet another grain elevator job today, besides my 22 ton Manitex, friend Mike was on the other end of the 100' or so long conveyor belt/catwalk with his brand new 26 Altec. What a showpiece, as you can see.

Here's a rear shot of Mikes 26 ton 104' of boom rig. Note the walk through control station with the catwalk joining the two sides, also the rear stabilizer (required)

Another front shot of Mike's, he has a two section jib, 45' I believe. We compared load charts: his of course outperforms my 22 ton from the get go, at about 50' mine matchs his, then mine outpicks and outreachs his. He's done at 80'radius (310 lbs after jib and headache ball deductions), mine is 1250 lbs, and only gets down to 300 and some lbs at 110'. Point being his is better closer in and heavier, mine is better further out with lighter loads. His is for sure prettier!

Our two cranes making the pick, I was 95' up with just 1100 lbs, Mike has 3500 at about 110', using his greater closein capacity. We went up SLOWLY..... The 150' Condor manlift holds the work crew, what a monster, with a huge basket big enough for a lot of people. A very cool rig.

This last shot shows a side view, it was a fun day with NO SUPRISES, but just intense enough to be interesting.

It's easy to take good pictures when you have such pretty subjects!

The physics of load charts is confusing. Mahk Adams has written articles that clarify the charts a bit though.

I can't wait to see some vegetables hanging from your pretty crane. The first scratch is gonna hurt a lot :(
