So glad I happened to open this thread - even more so my first time online in months - but just yesterday I was greasing-up my climbing skills after months of doing necessary other stuff, on a 100-ft oak, way up top and acrobating my dance to test my ancient musculature...on my Cougar and not knowing there's been a recall on a sensitive part. Shouldn't Sherrill had contacted me as purchaser or something? I may not be plugged-in or can be where I live now, but the mailman still drives by.

Hope all works out with recall glad to hear that nobody was injured!!
Gonna head to Florida for geezers comp this year and hope to see you there. Haven't competed since Ohio chapter event in 1999, good lord I'm old.

Ok, I have a pretty new Cougar, my bridge is all black, and I had a discussion with Allmark today about how I don't like it, gut feeling, now I read this. I was planning on removing the bridge and replacing it with 3/8" Bee line, thoughts on this??? I need saddle tomorrow, and at least will back up the existing bridge with the bee line if I hear nothing on this tonight/ early tomorrow.

Raven I just got a cougar last wk, and it has the same black bridge. I am pretty sure that this is not the bridge that was recalled. This said I am still going to back up the bridge with a piece of tachyon through the rings. Just gives me more peace of mind.

I just got a Cougar as well. My bridge is black. Looks like something similar to Amsteel, i wouldn't be worried. That being said, piece of mind goes a long way and should not be overlooked! A back up will not harm anything.

I backed it with the Bee line, Don't want doubt in my head 40-50' or more off the ground trying to swing to another section, and snap! LOL

there was a climber in southern Ontario that had a Cougar and 2 weeks ago his bridge failed and he fell about 40 feet. he is lucky to be alive. anyone hear about it???

to my knowledge the bridge recall was last october and was on the ones with red loops, and now theres a recall on the aluminum rings the bridge attaches too, best look at sherrills website for details.

Just checked sherrill's website and only saw the recall for the bridges...nothing for the rings. Are you sure about this one or are you talking about the old ring recall from circa 2008-2009 or whenever that was?

yeah nick they recalled the rings that are "unmarked". if your saddle has marked rings then it's ok but apparently there were some made with those illusive "blank" rings.

Bikini Bottom Logs & Lumber here. I hauled logs for you years ago. Hunting Valley job I took home a brand new baby black squirrel. My wife and I nursed it to maturity and she was a great pet.
