An octopus tale

Nice video.
I like octopus. They seem very intelligent, agile, curious, etc.
They are also very tasty !
..... boiled (either very long or quick), steamed, grilled, Spanish canned, etc.

Don't tell that to the octopus in the story below the video!!

I have been watching many octopus videos recently, and they do seem very curious, or evenly friendly.

Any inspiration from nature making its way to rope device designs??

Well.... I have been dreaming up a new device,... it might have four- six arms. Parts arrive Monday. Maybe I can work a few more in!
Off topic a bit, but I'm wondering if/how you prototype. Do you use wood at all? Computer, maybe Solidworks or such?

I don't have metal tooling, and no specific ideas, but the though of messing with suspension designs and ideas for a rope device is of interest. I don't have a desire to build other than a functional prototype.

I have not prototyped with wood, just steel an aluminum. I usually try to hand make the device to see if there is a chance that it has potential, then move to computer model and machinist.
