amsteel II crane spider legs.

Before I purchased the 600ft roll, I asked Samson to verify exactly what the rope was. They responded:

Per our lab, this is Samson coated Amsteel II in 1” diameter. It is spliceable using a Class II splice for double braids. Instructions for this splice can be found on our website. The average breaking strength for this rope is 57,000 lbs and the minimum is 48,500 lbs. Please let me know if you need any further information.

Cool, looks much better for the job than the Amsteel blue.

That amsteel blue is a real pain when the chainsaw hanging off your belt snags it. That blue grabs everthing! Especially rough bark and chainsaw. Sometimes you have to work a strand back into the braid. PITA.

We have amsteel II on our chipper winch too. MattyD's first amsteel II splice. 7/16" amsteel II plus. Wow, it is SOOOO nice to work with. Now we can use our regular rope rigging blocks for redirects to the chipper too. I didn't want to try amsteel blue on the chipper winch, didn't want all that crap that blue can pick up.

Just in case you are curious like I was to see what it looked like up close the first time:

Zev, if you have a problem let me know and I will let you talk to a guy at NE Ropes.

The Endurabraid is what we have been using for crane slings for the last 8 or 10 years or so. They are probably the same as am steel 2? the cover really helps with keeping them from getting too tight as well.

There was no flash. There was no chuckle. My hands were not washed. I knew you were being funny and it's all good.
