Aiming with Framing Square

If that was directed at me, did I do something to offend you? I just joined thinking this would be a good resource for increasing my knowledge. If new members get insulted for well-intentioned posts, I guess I had the wrong impression about this forum.
Oh crap, no this was far from directed towards you.. welcome and feel free to ask anybody anything as there are no poor questions.. there is a collective few hundred years (or way more) of experience on this forum. Most all of us are good peeps, even if we jab at each other sometimes, as at the end of the day we are all tree family. If we disagree and squabble, even fight occasionally I wouldn’t have any other family, as we all no matter what have each others back when shit really comes down to it. Occasionally I like to (hopefully with humor) kick a hornets nest. There is some long history (man drama) which I was poking with a stick.

I put a bucket about fifty feet away where I want the tree to fall, and use this adjustable aimer that clamps to the tree.

I sight down both sides to the bucket, make adjustments, and mark the tree the same distance back on each side with the saw or a crayon.
