Ahlborn

They are wholesale You need to find a dealer If you are looking for there new pants call them ans they will tell you where you can get some.

They deal in bulk so they have really good deals, and thus sometimes their stuff has not been manufactured to the highest standards.

Great for certain things - wedges, screnches, spark plugs, gas cans, hi-vis shirts, various odds and ends.

Crappy for more high tech stuff like thow cubes and rope bags. They have a really cheap Alaska Mill which I will not even try.

Although I did score one rope bag I like for about 11 bucks that still stands upright after several mos and has shoulder straps. They've also had the best wraparound chaps I've found for under $60, but can't get them anymore - bummer.

"Caveat emptor" with this catalogue, but if you get a bad item just be honest with the rep and see what they'll do, they're good folks up there in 'Sconie.

I've dealt with them on a number of occasions and, well, there is always the good and the bad.

Yes they are wholesale, but that is overcome with a minimal order.

The best items I have ever purchased from them were DOT class 3 long sleeved t-shirts with our company logo on the back. Dirt cheap and have held up very, very well. Some of my guys are on their 4th season with these shirts. I will order more in the near future.

I am disappointed in that many, if not most, of their "look alike" products are just that "look-alike but not quite."

One of the Ahlborne principals I spoke with was very candid in stating that frequently they will find something they want to sell, give it to their "China" connection and say, "copy it."

I have found that those products are crappy quality, especially their throw weights. So truly caveat emptor.

As for the chaps, yes, good price and the material holds up well but the buckles are not durable as we have broken at least one on every pair we have bought from them. Also each chap is a "Right Leg" chap and buckles accordingly. Not a major problem, but it does get speak to quality.

From what I can tell bars and chain are Carlton so that should be OK and 'brand named" stuff appears to be from the original manufacuturer. Caimen makes a glove we really like and when I ordered them from Ahlborn they were the real deal at about 65% what I would normally pay for them.

I think the best products they offer are their clothing lines and imprinting services.

We still cruise their catalog and visit them at trade shows but are selective in what we look to buy.

Rick wrote about what I've observed about their products.

Since there is no way to certify their gear I have to wonder if how safe their safety equipment might be. The climbing hardware is suspect so by default I'm suspect of their saw pants/chaps.

As we found out with the Kong aluminum rings quality control must be adhered to in all of the manufacturing steps.

Yup. I agree with most of the above. The majority of their products I wouldn't be interested in using or selling.

These Euro pants are one of the first things they've put out that turned my head. Well made. UL certified. Meets OSHA/ANSI standards.

Are they knockoffs? Yeah. No doubt.

Will they stop a rotating saw chain? Yeah.

I'm giving them a shot for now... at least until Husky releases their new saw pants later this summer.

Agreed...where it counts it seems that a good number of their products have the right ul/osha/ansi stuff, but then again, if they can copy patented items, who's to say the labels aren't copied.

I think the biners, snaps and things come primarily from Fusion and last I heard fusion was doing their best to get the right approvals. From what I understand Fusion's industrial stuff already meets and carries the proper approvals for that area of work.

Though we are using Ahlborne's chaps I think we are gonna go back to the ones Bailey's sells. not much difference in price but quality is much better.

We are still looking for a chainsaw pant that does not have the obligatory nylon shell most manufacturers seem to think is important. They gotta breathe man!

Hey thanx everyone, sorry to disapear on my own thread. I agree with all that has been said so far after a few orders from them. I got a pair of those pants in the mail the other day. the quality seems great. my only complaint is that the smallest size is really on the large end of medium, leaving them bulkier than I had hoped. If your a 34 then you will probably love the fit, if your a 30 you might not like them.

Chaps are measured from the waist down not the inseam. I Like my chaps long. Ahlborn, indecently has really nice adjustable length chaps, I just got a pare that I'm really-really happy with as I have been in between a permanent new pair for awhile. In my previous post when I mentioned sizes I was referring to waist size.

"I don't understand why nobody makes chaps or chainsaw pants in a longer inseam. I could maybe even make a 34 work, but a 31 is not even close."

I'm on the other end of the spectrum , my husky pants look like hammer pants .

Are they better then husky pants?

I like the abrasion-resistant knees a lot. I would say these pants are slightly less bulky than the Huskys, but I wouldn't call either brand of pants "lightweight".

Husky pants have two different inseams (32" and 34")... which is nice.

Husky is completing a total redesign of their saw pants. I believe they will be something like this.
