Okay. I need some help fellow Buzzers.

I have a number of Ad campaigns with Google and I have my local business listing going. My ad campaigns are for key word searches. In addition, my Local Business listing is technically a key word search driven.

I live in Longmont, CO and my primary service area is Longmont (go figure)

. Anyway, I have had the worst experience with this and I have some theories why, but I don't know exactly. First problem is that when you key word "Tree Service Longmont" (the most relevant of the key words to find local tree guys) I am not seen. A while back I was third on the list, then it went away. As most of you know, I have the www.not-a-hacker.com IP address. However, I changed host providers because I also have www.yourtreeguys.com. (Yourtreeguys was done by a pro, not-a-hacker was done by myself). Well, I transferred my not-a-hacker site and I can't see it now when I enter the address in the address bar. If I can't see it, I'm guessing Google can't see it either. Therefore, it won't list me on the Local Business results for the key words "tree service longmont."

So, I'm also thinking Google doesn't know how to reference me as relevant on the internet, yet. I basically need some clicks on my www.yourtreeguys.com site. (So, I think).

You can find my Local Business listing if you key word "tree service longmont," then click on "more results near Longmont" twice.

If I key word "tree removal longmont" I am listed every search in the Local Business result list.

If some of you are familiar with this stuff let me know why I'm not found when I key word "Tree Service Longmont." I'd even be willing to pay you for your time if you could remedy the problem. --Seriously. This how important it is to me.

And yes, my business is verified and shown as "active."

Jammin I was thinking about having a "big time" webdesigner create my website here in Tulsa and making it a real kickass site. It cost some money but they monitor it for a year and the wording in the website is always changing to facilitate new "keywords".

This is how I understand it Jamin. When your website was found for a period of time that probably meant that the key words at that time for websites were in your site and stuff, so it was found. But then maybe they change and that is why it wasnt found. This co. I want to use here in Tulsa only has done wepages for one other treeservice and they are a midsize service, but if I type in tree service Tulsa they are always first thru fifth. The way I understand it is that when I talked to the head guy at this company that builds the sites is that they monitor it for a small fee, constantly are clicking on it to give you a lot of hits, and if you read your site week to week the wordage is always changing a bit to facilitate the "new" keywords.

Derrick. I agree with those principles. However, the local business results for a specific service or business is not key word driven. Key words are not relevant for the Google search in the context of being listed with a local business.

For example, there is a Tape Storage Drive company listed as a tree service in Longmont. There are no key words in their website to indicate that they are a tree service business. The owner simply chose to name his Tape Storage Drive company, Pine Tree Peripherals. Google indexed them with tree services simply because of the word "Tree" in their name.

Really sucks!

Then, there is a guy who is listed in the local business results for tree service, who is new. Doesn't have a web presence in any way or form (other than registering with Google to be listed as a local business).
 
Maybe I can help here…

Google likes info a lot and it loves relevant topics to the search people are looking for make sure that you have all your meta tags set up as these are the keywords that google references when indexing your site, also I have not looked but the new site you have needs hyperlink text menus not css (google follows hyper links) it will not read css drop down links flash, or java!. But yeah make sure you build your meta tags up google "meta tags" to see what I am talking about.

As for the google local business stuff this takes a while to get onto and I had the same problem I applied and confirmed the listing than bam 12 weeks later it was there I don’t know why it took them so long…

I have had success using multiple listings in google local business. I have one with my actual address, which doesn't show up too often. I also use an address that's smack dab in the middle of downtown. That way, I usually get listed first as google seems to rank listings by distance from city center.

By the way, you are listed as letter J when I type in "tree service longmont." I notice your location is not near the cneter of town.

As long as your site has the keywords in the content, and you are listed in the proper category in your local business center, you should be good.

I have observed this as well. I tried to register myself in Denver as a local business, but realized I needed an address down there. Since I don't have a location down there I could not proceed. Google wont let me leave the line blank and I'm not putting down a false location either.
 
Thanks Dylan! That is the ticket. I remember my web guy telling me this before, but I don't know why he made the meta tag read what it does. If the Meta tag read "Tree Service Longmont" for my home page, shouldn't that do the trick?

In your video at 1.00 what the hell happened when the 88 got caught in the cut! damn near ripped your arm off!

Couldn't you have made the backcut then come out of the tree and then pulled it over, i dont know if its a good idea to show clients that bit, then again..they dont really know whats going on anyway.
 
First off, Great new website.

Now for some questions, or maybe suggestions:

Why when you had a crane there did you drop some of the tree on the ground? I think its much easier to pick it and have your cleanup area right behind the chip truck.

Why did you fall the wood and buck it? was the homeowner keeping it? I think even if you have to hire a local dumptruck or logtruck to transport the wood it would be worth it to not spend the time cutting and cleaning up when the crane can lift it in bigger pieces.

Yeah, the video was made for both arborists to understand and the potential clients. And I get nothing but great comments with the web site. My buddy put it together. If anyone wants to use him, he'll get it done really well...

I did that job over 5 years ago. I was only in business for 2 years, at that point. I didn't have a chipper. It was all loaded, by hand, and hauled to my property. I used to burn every thing...

(I live out in the country where it is allowed).

So, I cut the logs because the owners son, also a friend of mine, had a bobcat. We were shaving cost by letting the crane operator go and have my friend take away the wood at a later time...

If that job were done now a days, that would have been chipped, as the picks were coming and the wood would have been taken away in my dump trailer and my Isuzu FRR.

Man have I come a long way... Those were the days of good old hard work...

FWIW. My web guy pointed out a major flaw web sites have. They don't compel a sale. Every one likes to brag about this and that when the potential customer is just looking for a place to get a request a quote.

I suggest that every one here gets their web guy/gal to do what my guy did for me. Every page within my site hast he "Get a free estimate" button in the upper right hand area. It is a must to have one.

The google analytics prove that when people visit my site, the next thing they automatically do is click on the button to start the process of getting business done. After they click on that, they may choose to browse around my site.

I get an email icon on my phone immediately after some one fills out that form. I can respond (if I choose to) quickly. After all, that is the internet experience. It should be fast and user friendly. And nearly impulsive...
