Adjustable Climbing System (2)

Hey, just tried this out today and it is awesome!! Besides being a bit gear intensive, it wasn't too bad. I had everything laying around, so I figured why not try it. It was a great system, expect for two drawbacks. When recrotching over a long distance, or thru an FS, the prussikk must be removed and retied.

I also found that my prussikk would sometimes move around alot, but I plan on ordering some NE Tech Cord to replace the 8mm Bee Line, along with a smaller biner.

Other than that though, it worked out great!! The pulley helps to allow me to extend it under weight, and it also increase the bend ratio verus using passing the rope thru a ring or biner.

Now, onto the pics!

Also, I have to give credit to Jesse (arbor101) I stole this idea off his topic about adjustable climbing systems.

Try using a rope man ascended or microcender instead of a prussik, I find it to be easier to adjust. It is a nice system but recrotching is a pain. Also I find that I barely use this system because I seldom body thrust so much that I need an extendable bridge.

It's fun to mess around with all the gear you accumulate!

The hitchclimber pulley is something else!

The hitchclimber is awesome!!! It was another Christmas gift and I am now just discovering many of the uses for it!!

Just tried a different set-up, one much more like the anchor bridge. It was just that 8mm Bee Line, with one end connected to the saddle, and the other to the hitchclimber. Worked out great!! Only one piece of gear is required(the 8mm 30" Bee Line). And no uniting and retying to re-crotching. Just unsnap, and re-crotch.

I believe hes just demonstrating the floating bridge setup, I climbed on it for a few months, its just ok, nothing amazing. I gave up on that and went for going hand over hand and tending slack every so often, the floating bridge is just kind of a PITA in my opinion, too much break down even simply to just recrotch, might as well go back to a closed climbing system.
