Actual tree work for a change

1:02-1:10???

My SOP is to severely limit the amount of tip cutting I do. Especially when there are much less risky alternatives.

tip cuts=kick back
I tip cut frequently while doing crane work. Once the TIP on the ball is eliminated, and your ready to cut the pic loose, it's easier to bore cut for the relief cut. It's often on the opposite side of the spar. Bore in and saw out towards the lean, or pull of the crane. Realign for the release cut. This is in spar work. Sometimes, like in conifers, you can't maneuver around the spar with all the branches.

I also tip cut when bucking wood with space between the log and ground. Bore cut, continue down, then straight up with topside of bar.

Last place common for me is when felling something for the mill. Release the heartwood to keep it from tearing out. More log length the better.

Curious to why you used 2 ropes on the oak top? Both tied at the butt, why not one larger diam rope?
Did you just already have 2 smaller ropes on hand, using both to handle the load?

This is from last Friday...

The complete job with the GRCS... Most important thing was bucket positioning in 2 sets with the second set being positioned to be able to reach each of the two back leads from either side of the front lead. Of note is the 3-cut stepped snap cut used to take the second pic with GRCS, and the lack of undercuts throughout the video.

This was pushing the limits a but, but ended up being easier than it looked from the ground, due in large part to how durable hickory trees are.

We had a big birch that needed trimming all around, twas a huge white face nest in the lower limb which was to be removed, we trimmed the whole tree and will come back for the low limb after the nest is dormant, didn't want to nuke the nest cuz they are important pollinators
I've been attacked by Hornets living in the adjacent tree, just from a limb brushing past their nest
