A morning hike....tall tree.

Excellent! Nice job and great music again. How were you secured on the way up, lanyard only? (hard to tell in the vid) Do you run your climbing line choked on the way down?

Thanks, you're right on both counts.

There should be a link in youtube to watch in higher quality also.

Great video, Gord!

Every click a different pic!

Gord, nice vid.
Did you have your wedges tied off to you?
If so how did you get a line on them?
I am doing a tree next week and pretty sure i will need to take some wedges up with me.
Thanks
Pat.

Nice work and video, as usual, Gord! lemme guess, 164 footer? 45 foot top, 33 foot section, 21 foot section, and 66 foot butt, plus 18" on the stump... 1600 board feet?

I forget the individual lengths but I think it came out to 172' tall from tip to ground.

We fell another tree full length that saved out to 135'.

Fairly tall for second-growth but not at all unusual.

Hey Pat, I just have a little ditty bag on my belt that I keep a wedge and a small sledge hammer in. I don't have the wedges tied off in any way.

Man I wish we had trees that tall work with here. I appreciate the high quality video Gord.

What camcorder are you using? I'm thinking of getting new one. My current camcorder is 7 years old. In technology time, that is ancient!

I've got a little canon camera (Powershot TX1) that's really a still camera but also shoots really good video. It got some drawbacks compared to a true video camera but it's an amazing camera for what it does do. Here's a review of it:

Hey treebarber as far as securing the wedges to you? Try drilling a small hole right through the wedge and pass a piece of throw line through it.If you trap the wedge between two stopper knots of your choice it will keep the thing from sliding around. It helps when you have a case of the dropsies. Works with the hammer handle as well.

I'm oblivious to what i write apparently, FUN!!!

I wonder what was rolling through my head when i typed that. Ohh well.

Great Work either way. How long did that take overall?
