A 10,000 year old saw log

I hate forums with that format.

Same here. I always wonder how you are supposed to read a continuous thread, figgered I just didn't know how. Maybe there is a trick. /forum/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

So...where you able to get beyond the format and find out about the tree?

That forum might be a little clunky to navigate but the people who post there are most helpful. There is just about as much off topic traffic as woodworking and both sides are very interesting.

Can you imagine what it would be like to have 10,000 year old wood to work with in the shop? Too much!

I managed to drill down to a picture of the sawn log...very cool looking wood. It's intriguing to think that log can be that old.

Zac,

I think that the logs came from a Corps project near Memphis.

A couple of years ago I stopped in Ashland at the sales office to look at the antique lumber. Simply amazing! They have butt cutoffs with the ax chips in the face and saw marks on the back. The wood that they sell is something to behold. Such tight, uniform, straight grain.

Yes, it must truely suck having to live in Hawaii, like that! What a row to hoe! /forum/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
