8mm beeline loop

I think you'd have to make a really long loop...long enough to push the cover back to form an end to end hollow braid splice with real long buries.

I don't have numbers, but the whole thing has to be long enough to pull the cover back to bury the entire core. The more cover you have, the easier it will be to bunch it up enough to do the trick. You'll also need a bit of excess cover to account for the increased core diameter after the bury is completed. Perhaps you could have a "naked" portion where the crossover meets, and you could orient that at the Pinto.

Check the end to end splice instructions for the material. That will give you the bury length.

Like Oceans said, what you are after is a hollow braid end to end with the cover pushed back overtop.

I want to use the spacer....and try something new.
How long of a piece would I need to start with? I want to come out with a loop @ 16-18" long. My gut feeling is that I won't get the cover pushed back enough for a proper bury. Can I bury shorter and just stitch the F out of it and still be fine. Also, I think I will have a bunch of extra cover to deal with....any tips to making it finish up real pretty?

OR-

Should I be looking at another cordage type. That little beeline destroyed my wifes scissors last week. It's kind of a PITA to work with. We always have a hank of it at work so its easy to come by.

I honestly have to suggest that for your application, the easiest thing to do would be to grab an E2E prusik and use that with a 'biner to the Pinto. This way you haven't dedicated the Pinto to that job. I use a Pinto Rig in that fashion from time to time.

I decided to ditch the 8mm and go wither the old 10mm. Class 1 DB end for end. Followed samson inst. Bury on. Both sides of crossovers have nearly 10" of core tucked in (to where u see sharpies). I lock stitched with tan colored yarns from the cover taper. I'm happy with it. Finished length 29". A bit longer than I wanted from the 8mm original project idea, but very versatile purchase of gear.
