Here are a few pictures of what I can only describe as

"Twist and Splice! come on come on come on baby now, twist and splice!"

I'm pretty sure that Tom Hoffman made one with TVP, with the intent of it being mid-line attachable, although I don't believe it was configured as a Valdotain Tresse. Is that one mid-line attachable? I'm trying to do it in my head, but the coffee hasn't really kicked in yet.

No it has to be threaded. To experiment with it tie a vt with a normal eyeneye, clip a biner through it and pull the rope out. Then 'expand ' the prusik loop...

It was an experiment. But as a lanyard, I don't see it as limited. I see it as sleek, compact custom equipment, which is just my style. Plus I enjoy the splicing.

That wasnt the point though. I know I can make a prusik with an endless loop (essentially what and eye and eye and a pinto is). I wanted to make a VT, that laid fair with an 8mm endless loop spliced onto the Pinto.

One reason I wouldn't want to splice a prussic directly to a pulley, is glazing. I like to untie my hitch every now and then to spread the wear.

Why didn't you splice the snap on your lanyard?

I have to put a different snap on there. I will put an ISC Triple Action Snap on the high side and a thimble on the low.

I dont really see glazing as a big issue on a lanyard. I have never untied the hitch on my current setup. It really isnt a big deal, its only about $6 worth of cord and a pulley I already had. I can always cut it up if I dont like it. I will just whip the ends and give it to my dogs.
