40 Ton AT Crane Removal - 46 DBH

i checked out a few spider leg pictures, good job.

the crane company should take that block off though for tree work, too slow and not needed

So, did you guys bomb a lot of brush out of the tree first? I see a lot of stubbed & peeled limbs. Just asking...

That side of the tree was the crew of the guy I was subbing for. They were working out of a bucket and really had no idea what the hell they were doing; like tying limbs to the winch on the boom and shock loading it. I put a stop to that and explained to him how dangerous that was.
So then he started rigging the tips off with a rope taking a wrap on the stem just before the cut down to his ground guy and really putting a lot of prying forces on the end of the stem. So i had to tell him why he shouldn't do that.
All of that why i rigged the other side of the tree out, with three blocks redirecting the forces through out the canopy of the tree trying to compress the fibers of the stems,
hope that helps. I really gave it no thought how that could reflect on me when I posted toughs pics

That was a fun workshop. Are you going to make it to TCIA?

Tod, I really wish I could make it. But I don't think so.
I have the fund, but there are a lot of things I really need to buy for the business

Nice job on a good sized tree.

FWIW, that's refered to as a rough terrain crane. AT cranes are road worthy with multi axle drive/steer carrier.

I wouldn't go as far saying AT's are road worthy

, they are more roadable than an RT, they are intended to be driven on the road until they get to the jobsite where they can be taken through some pretty rough areas.
