372xp or 576xp?

Mike, I have the Echo CS-590 w/ 20" that I use in the tree when needed but is also my only felling saw. I was thinking more about felling and bucking with a longer bar. Speed is not really a concern for my occasional jobs. I might try getting a 24" inch bar for the Echo but that is as big as they say for it. I was thinking a 28 would be perfect but I am not sure the Echo would handle it if I could even find one that fit. I am also looking at a couple used MS 440 mags in my local ads.

I've also read that the 576 needs a 32" bar to feel anything near balanced
Frank, where did you pick up that idea from???? We run 20" and 24" bars on the 372's/576's, and either saw is quite comfortable with either one of those sizes. When we get to the 28" bars, we go up to a 395 (or Stihl 660), which is a much bigger, much heavier powerhead than the 372/576 and they balance nicely against the 28". I've got a 660 with a 32" that is nose heavy and CAN'T IMAGINE that much bar on a 576. Maybe if you got a really lightweight bar, but still...

I have to agree with Mike, the 562xp is a whip ass saw! On crane days I throw the 28" tech lite bar on it and it'll shred anything. Normally it runs a 20" and is very compact and nimble. The jug and piston is set at an angle which greatly reduces gyro forces thus making it less tiring for the user. Great saw.
