30 plus years one handing a saw !

It seems to me the whole conversation could be settled by saying one handing while you're climbing is because you're lazy whereas one handing out of a bucket is a basic requirement for many removals.

The only thing I have against one handing is messing up your arm from doing it too much. As long as your not waving it around like a sword, one handing is just realistic for what we do

it is lazy. At the time there may have been a better option. I couldn't see it. So finishing the cut with one hand on 660 was my call. Two hands to start and bury the saw in the cut for sure. I had the footing and balance to start but for the finish you need that extra push to secure your cog as your weight is shifting. Kicking out is a bitch!

Actually high tie, second tie and a lanyard.
Could of set up a foot loop mb like this?pic
Just a note for greenhorns. My life line is bagged and hanging from harness so there is no chance of being tugged. See way to much lifelines near falling debris. I think that is more dangerous than one handing and equivalent tostanding in drop zone. Don't you think?

Local tree service owner gave me a souvenir... I just wanted it long enough to take a picture of it, but he doesn't want it back. His crew has a habit of one handing big saws out of the bucket truck, and as a result the buckets are all slashed up, hosed chainsaw chains, and even trashed a couple of big Stihl saws. So, to give them a hint as to how much he appreciates it, he gave them a bunch of "new" saws, most of which weren't actually new, but garage sale saws. It took them two whole days to drop one from 35' up... bent the bar, busted up the case... no idea if it runs, I didn't try to start it. One of those Poulans you buy at a home improvement store for $99 on sale. I'll take a pic of it tomorrow. Maybe I'll use it for a shop decoration, or something.

Meant a saw lanyard, but yes I think any Gm standing in that area would be in danger, not necessarily from a falling saw.

Sorry about the poor quality... was dark and using a cheap camera.
It hit the lawn bar first and bounced into the driveway, landing a couple of feet from the homeowner and his neighbor, who were gawking and chatting.
