Really, they call for a class 1 DB splice? I thought for sure I've seen it done as a hollow braid with the cover just stitched on, or am I out of my gourd?

Bee Line 8MM
Bee Line 8mm is a very cool product. The cover is 75% Technora & 25% Polyester. The core is 100% Vectran. 8,000 Lb. Avg. break strength. This rope is awesome for split tails. It can be used with a splice or a fishermans knot.

Bee Line 10MM
Bee Line 10mm is similar to the 8mm but has a slightly different construction. The cover is 50% Technora & 50% Polyester. The core is 100% Polyester. 7,500 Lb. Avg. break strength. It can be used with a splice or a fishermans knot.

Note the difference in the material the cores are made of;
the 8mm has a vectran core, putting it in the class II db. except for making I2I a highly modified "naked eye splice" is used that has no writen instructions that I am aware of.

I'm pretty sure Yale considers this rope not spliceable at this point because of all of the hemorrhaging (core popping out of cover) issues. If you are worried about cash flow and don't want to splice it yourself just tie knots.

I've sent out many dozens 3/8" beeline eye-eye slings. I did have one customer send one back. There could be others that people never piped up with, though.

I have had several returned due to herniation with the older 3/8" Beeline (Red Strand)..but the overall percentage is extremely low. It definitely appears that hitch selection might have something to do with the herniation as well as certain hitches seem to increase the chance of herniation.

I have yet to see any herniation with the newer 3/8" Beeline (yellow strand). Supposedly Yale is working on an even newer version of the 3/8" that will make it a bit more like the 5/16".....no details on what the changes would be, but I am super excited to see them...

I have had only one herniation out of about a dozen of the 10mm, and it was the older red tracer stuff. 8mm beeline has been great.
