24 Strand climbing line that resists glazing

I've run Cougar for the last two years exclusively. I run it SRT and DdRT, friction hitches and mechanical. I haven't had any problems with glazing. I'm no speed demon, though I work at a comfortable and steady pace. I've been a big fan. Have a hard time buying something else at this point.

Cougar is a great line for speed. Runs well on a wrench, spider jack, and standard vt. Really durable.

Imori has the best hand. Awesome for those trims and removals where you're up and down the rope a lot. Does not hold up well to guys who really jam on toothed ascenders... A light touch is needed. It grabs and sets really well. Does not run smooth through the spider jack.

Aztec (same as poison ivy, blue moon, etc) is really durable, holds its shape and diameter really well, holds up to toothed ascenders, and runs super smooth in the spider jack. Runs well wet too.

Can't really go wrong with any of them. I choose one over the other based on the application. If I had to go with one all the time it would be the aztec.

Never glazed any of these. Can't say that for any Samson rope I've had (velocity and vortex).

Good info. Thanks.

Got a little off target there. Yes I have strong opinions about 24 stand. They are definitely not all created equal, or even close. Forgot about the tachyon lovers out there. It's a solid rope, but does not grab well on a fast vt (like 3 wrap 2 twist) and strikes me as heavy. Never glazed it though. All mine is now used for light rigging and makes a good tag line. I just like Yale 11.7mms better. Cherry bomb falls into the same category, but had the same glazing issue. So really it's not good for much of anything except tag-, pull-, or guy-line.

I needed another 200' rope and tried hard to get myself to order a rope I hadn't tried before. After much studying, I went back to my favorite, Aztec. I really like that rope for SRT.
