2013 rec climb in ct

I'm thinking around 8:30. Google maps says 2 hours 33 minutes, I suppose thats if you do the speed limit...so maybe I'll be a few minutes earlier.

Thanks for the pictures moss!!
I had a blast!! Thank you to all the "SRT junkies",
I will definitely get me a RW.
Thank you Timberjack for the late splicing demo, it was great!
And of course a big thanks to Ian "goodaking" and his wife for having us
At their home.
Ps: food was delicious!! :)

Ian, Leslie, and Ryker are wonderful hosts. Thanks so much for your hospitality. I had such a great time.

It was great to catch up with all of last year's repeat attendees. The moisture was making things a bit slick, but the company was so good I could have climbed for 48 hours straight.

I sure learned some new approaches, and ideas with a variety of gear. I also have to say that TimberJ's splicing demo was very educational. He's a meticulous one with that delicate work!

The best part is the relaxed atmosphere. Ian put me to work immediately, and said I'd be sleeping outside if I didn't deadwood an 80' Oak to < 1" by the end of the day!

Seriously, though...the climbing can almost be secondary as everyone exchanges greetings, introductions, ideas, stories, and smiles. I guess this can often happen when you jam a bunch of enthusiastic climbers in a backyard full of beautiful trees!

To everyone that went...great to meet you all.
To anyone that missed it...we missed you, too.

I'm totally stoked for next year, when Moss and I plan to have a 'new-gear-idea' face-off. Don't miss it!

Thanks Ian for planning and hosting this. I had a great time and learned even more than I was expecting. I wish I could have stayed longer to hang out as I would have really enjoyed the splicing demo - but I mistakingly promised the wife I'd be back for some prior plans :(

So many to thank: jeff and moss for the new items, EJ for an in-tree lesson, oceans for the throw line tips, Ian's wife for the lunch, and everyone else I cant remember. You guys come up with some really creative solutions, that I hope to be able to take advantage of someday. For now, looks like I'll be making a new order to continue the gear collection.

I have one pic and video:

Video: 2013 CT Rec Climb may take some time to downlaod

Hope to climb with you all again.

First and foremost thanks to Ian and Leslie for having us all in your awesome backyard. AND for feeding us that killer chicken...I'll have to come up for dinner sometime haha. Thanks to all those who helped me out/shared their knowledge. I finally got an upclose look at the workings of SRT, which will be my next hurdle. Then at the next gtg, I could possibly hang with the big boys...maybe;)

I wanted to thank everyone for coming out Saturday and Sunday for the 3rd annual Rec Climb! It was definitely a fun learning experience for everyone! Erik Wipple and Todd Bremer did a phenomenal job explaining rigging and climbing vectors to create safer climbing and rigging systems! Emitt’s late night splicing demo on how to make rigging slings was awesome! Great job Emitt! I really liked Erik Wipple’s stiff tether and Andrew Joslin’s addition with the quick release allowing you to quickly switch from SRT back over to DDRT. Very ingenuitive! I loved Danny Rodriguez’s rope walker system; people should feel very lucky to work with him! It was a pleasure meeting one of the most amazing female tree climbers, Felicia, with a background of climbing skyscrapers in NYC and caving and pushing the limits for women in the tree care industry. We all had a blast climbing well into the sunset trying new techniques and devices. Leslie, Ryker, and I are looking forward to the next event! Can’t wait to have you all back very soon!

Ian, Leslie thank you for the hospitality.

That was the best one yet.

Thanks Todd for fixing up my climbing system.

Thanks Emmitt and Eric for the splicing demos.

Now I need to get busy putting all that knowledge to use. My brain is smoking with ideas.

I had a great time and really enjoyed putting names and faces to everyone of the Buzzers in the group. A really BIG thanks to Ian Leslie and Ryker for hosting such a great weekend. It was a real pleasure sharing ideas and knowledge with all of you. Special Kudos To Eric (Oceans) for taking the time to share his knowledge and passion in such a detailed and informative way. Andrew great seeing you as always...gotta hook up next time I am in JP. Emmet don't forget to Pm me your contact and shipping info so I know where to ship your custom handle!
I took a bunch of pictures everyone is welcome to so I guess Pm me your email and I will send them to you if you want.

Thinking I may have to host one in NY to get everyone together again and maybe get some of the folks who couldn't make this one.

Todd

Do it Scrat. Doooooo it! Meeting you was pretty close to looking into a mirror, but just a short time ago when I thought my Sequoia was comfy. LOL!
