2013 rec climb in ct

I and a friend would love to do this.
Please post a date. Rec climbs are about the only climbs I get these days. I am only in Jersey so this is an easy drive. Keep us posted!

woops put that in the wrong spot.

Hey all just got online for a quik minute. Leslie and i have been realy busy the last few days we just deliverd a future tree climber!! totaly siked!!. for the crew that came last year if it's not to cold to camp you can crash at my place, jeff we have room for you as well, as long as you keep the wood burning stove going.lol. first day we will do a woods climb in the same spot as last year weston redding ct. seconday we can play around and try out new gear at my place plenty of tree for everyone! or we could do these event vice verca. first week in January if that work with all of you. talk to you soon Ian

Dude, having a baby is no excuse for leaving us all on the hook like that...

No, seriously, congratulations, Ian. That is great. I sure hope the joys of parenthood are ever present, and you all stay healthy and wealthy.

That is a great idea to have a 2 day event. This will be very fun. Count me in!

First week? Im in! Or at least I will be so long as the fiance signs my permission slip! Lol

Congrats Ian and Leslie! Boy or girl? They are challenging at times, but tons of fun and worth it!

Congrats on the baby!! Will he/she be able to haul me up the tree? If not, I guess I'll have to coax Moss's goat. If that doesn't work I'll trailer my pack mule to do the hauling. SRT is still a worst case scenario option should all else fail.

I think a baby could perhaps pull you up into a tree with the AR technique we saw yesterday, but we'll need to get the right saddle...

Not to suggest anyone neglects this at all...just to put out a cautionary thought:
Any rec climbers coming out should remember the storm we are experiencing at this time (Hurricane Sandy) which will make careful and thorough tree inspection an absolute must!
A decent pair of binoculars can make this a snap. I will bring at least one pair and make them available. If you have your own, it would be a good idea to have them on hand. These forest trees have crowns beginning quite high and any defects or abnormalities should be considered.
Ok, I'm done with the safety speech.

So much for the blindfolded throwing and climbing contest!

I have a very specially trained crow to do inspections for me. Seriously though, Eric is correct and everyone needs to be super vigilant about tree inspections. Personally, I don't go for that righteous, high tie in in these situations. I like to start low and inspect as I go. Bottom line is I don't care about climbing trees anything close to how much I care about my wife having her husband home every night. That's just how I roll.

Way to go on the baby Ian and Leslie.

Couda used Moss's goat to pull me out of the East River last week but goats ain't to obedient. Still without cable in the apt. but it should be restored by the gtg. Hope you guys aren't working to hard. lol

I'm interested! I live in central CT and most of my tree climbing friends are in NY and Mass. Looking forward to a rec climb closer to home. This is my first post, by the way...

Hi Felicia! Glad you found the thread! Welcome to TreeBuzz!

I will be away on vacation so I'm going to miss this climb, but I hope it's fun and educational for everyone.
