2/20/08 - Yorktown, NY fatality

I was talking with a friend this afternoon on the phone when he told me that one of his good friends got killed this morning doing a tree job. I looked around online, and saw this.

A couple comments I can make...

1) The guy who died left behind 3 kids and a wife.
2) One of my friends used to have a house right around the corner from there... I've done work in that neighborhood on several ocassions in the past.
3) I've seen this company at work before... NO PPE, and DEFINATELY no training. Do an entire job with 1 rope... that rope gets shared between the climber and the rigging.

It's always sad to hear stories like this but it puts things in perspective on how dangerous the job can be. Thoughts and prayers go out to family and freinds.
